First of all, let me thank our parents, Mr Bukhari and Mme Badio for having generously offered their transportation for our Skate Park outing. The students had a great time!

Report Cards / Awards

You can get your report cards and remaining awards on Monday inshaAllah. There were many awards that were not distributed because of time constraints. Please come in to get them next week!

French classes

Do not forget that you can still go to Institut francais over the summer to borrow books or take part in the different activities! Summer French language classes will be offered over the summer! Please see Mr Mbengue or Mr Faye!

Teacher meetings

We teachers will be at IQRA next week. If you need to see any of us, please feel free to stop by!

Important information for this week.

Textbooks

We are collecting all textbooks (Harcourt textbook, DreamChasers, Spectrum). All other books students are able to keep.

Field trip - Skate Park

Our fun outing will be this Thursday inshaAllah. Awa's mother will be accompanying the students as well as myself. Ibtisam's father is lending us his car for transportation. Jazakumullah khair to you all!

Entrance fee to the park is 1000f. Students can bring their roller blades or skate boards. If they want to rent rollers, it will be an additional 4000f.

Graduation ceremony / Day of excellence

Zaharah is graduating! The ceremony is from 8:45 - 13:00. We hope to see all of you there!

Field trip / Sortie pedagogique

A field trip to SERVAIR (aeroport Leopold Sedar Senghor) is organised for tomorrow inshaAllah. This company does the food catering for all the airlines that land in Dakar. It also is in charge of cleaning the airplanes. Students will have a chance to visit the locals and discuss with the production manager.

Food drive / Collecte de nourriture

You have until Friday 29 mai to give your donations! Grade 5 is collecting soap (bar soap, hand soap, detergent etc) for l'Orphelinat La Rescousse. Any questions or suggestions, please contact me! Students will go to the orphanage on Friday to deliver the donations themselves.

Final exams

Exams are next week! We hope that students are studying well!

Examens

Les élèves passeront le DIBELS  et le TITLE 1 la semaine prochaine inshaAllah du lundi 18 mai au vendredi 22 mai de 8h30 à 11h30.

Le DIBELS évalue la fluidité de la lecture et la compréhension des textes. Le TITLE 1 évalue le niveau de l'anglais (compréhension écrite) et des mathématiques.

DELF PRIM

The DELF prim exam is scheduled for Wednesday 20 May 14:30 - 17:00 Institut francais Rue Parchappe.

Also, we are pleased to announce that ALL 34 students that took the exam from Grade 6 to Grade 11 (6e - 1re) passed the DELF JUNIOR exam! Alhumdulilah!

Chez Alpha Books English Language bookstore BOOKFAIR

Chez Alpha Books  will be having a bookfair on Tuesday 6 April and Wednesday 7 April from 10am - 5pm inshaAllah. English novels, activity books, Islamic books, dictionnaries etc will be on sale. They will be located in the front courtyard.

Institut francais de Dakar

Students will be changing their books on Thursday 9 April inshaAllah.

Homework Planner / Weekly Progress reports

We have started a new way of following students throughout the day. Please make sure that you verify that your child is revising his notes before doing any homework or activities.

Your signature is necessary each day.

Science Fair

Students need to turn in their cardboards on Tuesday 07 April inshaAllah.  I AM EXPECTING SPECTACULAR PROJECTS! Everyone had really good ideas! I am definately excited!!!

And we will also be the first class to be evaluated. Grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5 will be judged on Monday 13 April inshaAllah from 3pm to 6pm. Good luck to everyone!

LAST SEMESTER AND REPORT CARDS

We are in our final semester alhumdulilah! Students will receive their second semester report cards next week inshaAllah - Friday, 20 March.

The Spelling Bee is next week inshaAllah. Two finalists (French and English) from grade 5 will go to the final round competition. Who will it be this time?

MIDTERM EXAMS

This week is the last week before the upcoming Midterm Exams (23 - 25 February). Students will receive their exam timetable by the end of the week inshaAllah.

EXAM REVISIONS

Students received their study guides about 3 weeks ago. If they have lost them, you can print out a copy from this site (look at the article that is intitled midterm study guides). Students should be revising every day for at least 2 hours.

Some students do not have all their notes (from the days that they were absent). I will be checking their books this week inshaAllah to see if the notes were written from their absences. Those who still have incomplete notes will be required to write those notes during recess and lunch breaks.

MISSING GRADES

This is the last week to get missing grades in. Students can bring in their uncorrected homework to be corrected this week.

VILLAGE PILOTE

Our trip to Village Pilote is postponed until after the exams. However, a representant of this NGO will be in IQRA this Wednesday at 11am to sensitize grade 4 and grade 5 students about the goals and objectives of the centre. 

You are welcome to attend!

DELF

We need your registration forms, photos, ID and fees this week! Institut francais will be coming to collect the students' registration applications shortly.
